Q: Is WellDoc a disease management company?
A: No. WellDoc is not a disease management company. WellDoc is a medically-focused software development company that leverages data analytics and information sharing to help improve patient health care outcomes and reduce costs. Our solution platform can be a complementary and enhancing component to traditional disease management. In fact, our platform, applications and tools can help increase the efficiency of disease management case workers and nurse coaches who may operate through call centers or in a home health care environment.
Q: Is WellDoc's system flexible for patients and clinicians?
A: Absolutely. WellDoc works with its customers to deliver a highly customized solution that meets our customers' needs. All of the components of our software application have been built in a highly flexible and modular manner to allow for customer input. We recognize that there is no "one-size-fits-all" solution. WellDoc has architected what we refer to as “tri-level configuration:” That is, configuration is allowable at the plan level, at the health care provider level and at the individual patient level, thus allowing for maximum flexibility in what features are used and how they are used.
Q: Does the solution require special hardware?
A: No. Our goal is to have the WellDoc solution accessible to our users on the hardware and the systems that they are currently using in their everyday life and workflow. The mobile-based patient application will be available on more than 200 commercially available phone models and on all major cellular networks in the United States and elsewhere. Additionally, patients can use the medical devices (e.g., blood glucose meters, blood pressure cuffs, etc.) that they already have in conjunction with their cell phone or web portal. Integration into clinicians existing EMR or other population management tool is also possible.
Q: Does WellDoc's patient software only work on a cell phone?
A: No. We want patients to use the devices that are most convenient for them. WellDoc is “hardware- agnostic." In addition to cell phones and computer-based web browsers, our application can be integrated into many different types of devices, including but not limited to cable set top boxes, pocket PCs and other types of emerging, hybrid medical-communication devices.
Q: Do clinicians have to use WellDoc's Web portals?
A: No. Clinicians will always have access to our Web portals but our long-term objective is to integrate our analysis into the medical systems they use and perhaps have already invested in to manage their patients. Additionally, as the use of electronic medical systems proliferates, clinicians and health care providers can also choose to receive reports and analysis from our system via fax, just as they receive lab data, reports, etc. in today’s clinical environments.
Q: Is WellDoc's software customizable?
A: Yes. Our application is customizable on many levels. We can configure our patient-facing software to capture data for multiple disease states to support patients with multiple co-morbidities. In addition, our longitudinal data analysis can be tailored to meet specific partners' needs with respect to the types of behaviors trapped, analyzed and escalated for human intervention. Lastly, WellDoc can incorporate the drug formularies of its partners to ensure that any recommendations to clinicians regarding pharmacotherapy represent the lowest cost option. If there is a need for custom features, WellDoc will collaborate with the customer’s team, from requirements gathering to acceptance testing.
Q: Does WellDoc offer medical advice to patients?
A: No. WellDoc offers patients’ self-management coaching and behavior change support as a well as a variety of medication adherence tools, including real-time access to their health care providers’ medication and care plan instructions. The output of our analysis is a decision support tool for health care providers which provide a summary of patient data mapped to the latest disease-specific evidence-based guidelines.
