COVID-19 Resources For Our Community

We remain committed to providing support to our customers, users, and those in the diabetes community during this challenging time.

We will keep this page updated with resources on
COVID-19 and diabetes.

COVID-19 response

We're In This Together.

In general, people with diabetes face greater risks of complications when dealing with viral infections like flu, and that is likely to be true with COVID-19. Remember, BlueStar is here to help support and offers nutrition, sleep, and activity resources for your diabetes health.

Symptoms and Medications

Often times we contribute certain symptoms to diabetes. Yet, awareness and prevention are key to reducing possible exposure, and getting proper treatment. Learn more about COVID-19 from the CDC.

We encourage people with diabetes to follow the guidance of these tips from the American Diabetes Association to make a plan a review how you manage sick days.

Staying healthy and getting your medications exactly when your body needs them is vital, but sometimes you just forget.
Taking your medication should be as easy and automatic as possible, not yet another thing you need to add to your mental checklist.
For our BlueStar users, remember to set up medication reminders. In your app click on Medications. Then, click on Schedule and Reminders.

Reducing the spread of COVID-19 is causing unprecedented changes to our daily routines.
Remind yourself why you want to stay healthy. Write it down and keep it visible.
Join a virtual exercise group. Staying accountable to your activity goals is a lot harder when our normal social groups aren’t meeting. Online groups and training events can help you stay motivated.

It’s hard to avoid cooking right now. Restaurants are closed, and we’re working from home. Family meals are one of the few good things happening as a result.
Going to the grocery store less means you’ll need to fill your pantry with foods that last a while. Try frozen vegetables, brown rice, or dark chocolate.
You can stay home and still eat in ways that help your diabetes health.
Check out our blog for more tips on how to enjoy cooking and meal planning and grocery shopping during COVID-19.

Mental Health

We want to find ways to build resiliency. This is the ability to manage emotional and mental health, despite hardships.
Resilience doesn’t mean you avoid stress or negative emotions. But it’s learning to thrive during and after the stress. Resilience is behaviors, thoughts, and actions that anyone can learn and develop.
Whether you’re naturally more or less resilient, there are always ways you can focus on your mental wellbeing. Mental health resilience is a mindset and a journey.
