Eileen Egan



Eileen is currently Director of Diabetes Education for the Faculty Practices at NYU Winthrop Hospital in NY. Her role includes direct patient care, staff education, serving as a preceptor to NP students, as well as mentoring fellows and residents. Eileen works extensively with new and emerging diabetes technology and has developed a unique TechMastery program within her practice in order to help patients be more successful with their own diabetes devices. She has an interest the emerging adult population and has developed a Transition Program to foster the movement of emerging adults from pediatric to adult care. Eileen was the lead investigator on published research in the area of transition. She has authored book chapters on diabetes, published articles on various diabetes topics and she serves as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals. Eileen has been a presenter at numerous conferences on the local, regional and national level. Eileen was named the 2012 NY Metropolitan Diabetes Educator of the Year and the 2018 Nurse Practitioner of the Year by the Nurse Practitioner Association of Long Island. Eileen is a Fellow in AADE. She is on the faculty at Stonybrook University in the graduate school of nursing and the faculty of the Diabetes Core Curriculum Workshop.
