John Brooks is a recognized life sciences executive with more than 40 years of experience with some of the world’s largest healthcare, investment and venture firms. He co-founded seven life sciences companies and serves as a director or chairman on seven corporate boards of directors and one steering committee.
John is the managing director of Healthcare Capital LLC, an investment company that takes an advisory role with early-stage life sciences companies, with a specific focus on novel solutions for obesity, prediabetes and diabetes. Additionally, he is a director at the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse, which oversees two accelerators. He also serves on other corporate boards including Cellnovo Group SA, Thermalin, Inc., Hygieia, Inc., and the College Diabetes Network.
Before he joined Healthcare Capital, John served as the president and CEO of the Joslin Diabetes Center, an NIH-designated Diabetes Research Center and non-profit recognized as a leader in diabetes research and treatment and affiliated with the Harvard Medical School. Prior to his time at Joslin, John co-founded Prism Venture Partners, a $1.25 billion venture capital firm based in the Boston area. Previously, he was also a senior medical device executive with Pfizer and a senior manager with Arthur Andersen & Co.
A Massachusetts native, John holds an MSBA in Accounting and Finance and BBA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is also a certified public accountant.
