Living Well with Lee

Finally… a Medication
Reminder that Works

Welcome to the sixth installment in my blog series, Living Well with Lee. Here, I talk about my journey living with chronic conditions — while still living my best life.

I believe that we all have more power over our conditions than ever before. I believe in taking control of my health and making the most out of each and every day. And I love sharing thoughts, tips, and tricks with people like you.

finally a medication reminder first

Back in the day, my father would tie a string around his finger to remind him to take his medication. Personally, I never understood how a little piece of string would do anything but get in the way.

But the reality is, we all need reminders: to pay the water bill, to pick up the groceries, to bring your lunch to work. A big one for me is to take my medications. And the day-of-the-week pill box had the same amount of usefulness as the string-around-the-finger trick.

Sure, medication reminders have gotten an upgrade. They’re digital, for starters. With special cases or caps, and alarms that you can program. (My brother’s plays the “Gilligan’s Island” theme song. Seriously.)

The thing is, most of those reminder systems are gimmicks. Or a pain to use. And that doesn’t seem like a big deal until you end up missing a dose and then the day goes south. And no one needs that.

That’s why I was so relieved to find BlueStar®*. It has a medication reminder that doesn’t just work – it works for me. Finally.

What does that mean? Well, there are the basics. It’s easy for me to create reminders for all my medications. I can adjust the schedule, too – I’m an early bird – so come 5am, I’ll get a friendly nudge. Morning, noon, evening, bedtime: those reminders keep me on track. No more missing a dose.

I now even set reminders to recheck my blood glucose level, my weekly weight and even my blood pressure. Talk about putting all the pieces together!

With the medication reminder, I’m always on top of my care. No more tying string or playing around with pill boxes. Now if I can just get my brother one without that “Gilligan’s Island” theme music…
